Welcome to Manatee Library's Personal Digitization guide! Our librarians have gathered a wealth of information from online and printed resources to help you get started on your learning journey.
In these pages, you can learn about Personal Digitization, the technology and equipment to assist you in doing so, and how to save your precious memories and family heirlooms.
Personal digitalization is the process of saving and/or converting your personal albums, videos, and other media to a modern digital format. Doing so helps to make them more easily accessible and sharable. Digitized materials also have added benefit of serving as a backup and/or replacement for items that need to be disposed of or in downsizing of a personal collection.
The Archive Lab is a digital DIY space located at Central Library of Manatee County. It is part of the Eaton Florida History Room which is located on the second floor of the Central Library. It is comprised of 4 stations where you can scan and save your photos, home videos, scrapbooks, slides, and more. The Archive Lab is a great place to visit if you are concerned about preserving your family history for the future, protecting your precious memories from natural disasters, or simply want to finally share your old photos with friends and family on social media. The Archive Lab is also open to local organizations, small businesses, and churches who want to digitize their photos, recordings, and records.
